The following is news from the Port Authority of Guam:
Another Port Authority of Guam employee has tested positive for COVID-19 which has led to 13 additional employees potentially exposed to the virus.
Port Authority of Guam General Manager Rory J. Respicio was notified of the latest positive case at 4:45pm yesterday and the Port’s Contact Tracing Team immediately began working on the recent case. By 7pm last night the Team identified 13 employees who have been potentially exposed; coordinated their testing, and notified all the potentially exposed employees of the situation. These potentially affected Port employees are all scheduled to be tested at the Department of Public Health and Social Services on Friday morning.
“Our thoughts are with our employees who have tested positive and we pray for their full and speedy recovery,” Respicio said.
The latest positive case brings the Port’s total to 10 employees who have tested positive for COVID-19. In total, the Port Contact Tracing Team has been able to identify 338 cases of close contact exposure with the 10 port employees and has coordinated testing for all exposures. Out of the 10 employees with positive cases at the Port, seven of them have returned to regular work status. The remaining three are all experiencing mild to no symptoms and are all expected to be release from isolation.
“The Port continues to take every precaution necessary to combat COVID-19 including daily deep cleaning and sanitizing of the Port facilities, the installation of hand sanitizing stations and the establishment of the Port Clinic,” Respicio said. “We also have stood up our Port Contact Tracing Team and established the Port Clinic which has had 28,000 visits by employees and tenants.”
Respicio thanks Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio for the support they have given the agency as the Governor and Lt. Governor want to ensure that the flow of goods into the island remains uninterrupted.
