Amn. 1st Class Napu Mesa punches above his weight class resupplying JTF 671

The following is news from the Guam National Guard:

Airman 1st Class Napu Mesa is a Logistics Planner for the Guam National Guard’s COVID-19 response unit, Joint Task Force 671. A resident of Yona and a newcomer to the Guard, Mesa plays an instrumental role ensuring front-line troops have enough protective equipment. Serving with JTF 671 since October, he manages resupply for the Quarantine Facilities, the Isolation Facility, and the Guard-operated COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the University of Guam Fieldhouse.

Working in a joint environment (Army and Air) has been a valuable experience, said Mesa. “Learning different perspectives from the both Air Force and Army is interesting. I take and appreciate everything that we do here, learning from my leaders like Maj. Kristin Ramos and Cpl. Christopher Bolus. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity.”

Mesa credits his motivation both to the people he works with, and in knowing his tasks directly help the community. When asked how he handles such a critical responsibility while being relatively new, Mesa replied, “With guidance from my leaders, I take the responsibility given to me and chip away at it one day at a time. The responsibilities are manageable this way. But what keeps me motivated is knowing that I played a role in someone’s safety. Just knowing that my actions, such as requesting for items like gloves and sanitizers, will help the overall mission. What more can you ask for?”
