BREAKING NEWS: All schools, daycare centers, and certain businesses activities shut down

By Troy Torres

(Tumon, Guam) Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero at 10 a.m. Monday issued Executive Order No. 2020-04, which shuts down all public and private schools, all daycare centers, and all business activity where a business anticipates that 50 or more people will gather at a single time in one location.

"Effective immediately and through March 30, 2020, gatherings of 50 people of more in a single room or single space at the same time for social, spiritual, and recreational activities, including, but not limited to, community, civic, public, leisure, faith-based, or sporting events, parades, concerts, festivals, fiestas, conventions, fundraisers, and similar activities are prohibited throughout Guam," according to Ms. Leon Guerrero's order.

For businesses and public accommodations that anticipate fewer than 50 people gathered at the same time in the same facility, the governor is mandating that they "shall operate at no greater than 50% occupancy, and no greater than 50% of seating capacity."

The prohibition does not apply to grocery and convenience stores, pharmacies, or other medical offices or facilities. The order "is not intended to prohibit routine business gatherings held at the place of business."

The Department of Public Health and Social Services is directed to enforce this executive order, with the assistance of the Guam Police Department.
