By Johnnie Rosario

(Tumon, Guam) In an 18-minute phone interview with Kandit News, Dr. Vince Akimoto has confirmed that today he was tested for suspicion of COVID-19 infection and now is in home quarantine awaiting the results after presenting with symptoms this morning.

He also confirmed that Fr. Jeff San Nicolas, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Agana, also was exposed following an Anointing of the Sick ritual at Guam Memorial Hospital, and also is in home quarantine.

Kandit has asked the Archdiocese for a statement and awaits their response.

Both Fr. San Nicolas and Dr. Akimoto have not been contacting by public health officials yet for procedural contact tracing to determine who they have been in contact with over the past few days, according to Dr. Akimoto.

"I'm pissed, not panicked," Dr. Akimoto said. In the interview, he lamented the government's botched response to this public health emergency and said that its leaders need to change their program.

He warns that if more people aren't tested and if the testing criteria doesn't change, the situation will remain "unsustainable" and it's just a matter of time before fatalities happen.
