BREAKING NEWS: Federal cash assistance checks possible by next week

The Department of Revenue and Taxation has received $107.8 million out of $134.8 million in U.S. Department of the Treasury funding for Economic Impact Payments (EIP).

It is now more than five weeks since Congressman Michael San Nicolas ensured Guam was included in the federal cash assistance program through Congress. For the past five weeks, the congressman and members of the Guam Legislature have been pushing Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero to correctly apply for the program.

"With the arrival of these funds, the Department of Revenue and Taxation (DRT) anticipates stimulus checks could be released early next week. DRT will be releasing an FAQ regarding the EIP program within the week." - statement from the Joint Information Center

This is the federal program that will cut one-time checks of $1,200 per qualified tax filer, and $500 per qualified child.
