"[F]or the remainder of the current School Year 2020-2021 classroom instructions be taught through the Distance Education Program," according to a news release from Mr. Ada.
[NOTE: We assume Mr. Ada meant the 2019-2020 school year]
“We are expanding our PSS Distance Education Program (Online Program) to allow for all of our 10,000- plus public school students to continually avail of our public education services, which was unfortunately disrupted with the growing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic on our small island community,” Commissioner of Education Dr. Alfred B. Ada said.
Commissioner Dr. Ada said, that for the whole of this week (week of March 23-25), he along with his leadership and management teams will be finalizing the Distance Education Program plan. This will ensure for the seamless integration of actual classroom instruction, by expanding the existing online programs to cover all content areas (curriculum and instructions).
The CNMI PSS Distance Education Program was established nearly 10 years ago as a pioneering technology-based learning. PSS is the first in the Pacific region to develop a curriculum-based online classroom learning.
“The health and wellbeing of all of our public education stakeholders – our students, teachers, staff and personnel will always remain paramount in our aggressive work to combat the spread of this fatal COVID-19 virus,” Commissioner Dr. Ada added.
He reiterated, “Ensuring that all of our CNMI PSS campuses are closed for the rest of the school year means life, safety, health, and wellbeing for every person in the CNMI.”
