The U.S. House of Representatives has passed legislation on to the Senate that, if passed into law, will:
Give taxpayers $1,400 per taxpayers and per dependent
Increase federal unemployment compensation by $100 a week, and extend both programs beyond March
Increase tax refunds through the child tax credit
Give the government of Guam $661 million in direct aid relief
Annually reimburse Guam 100 percent of the cost of paying the Earned Income Credit to Guam; and more
The bill, if it does not include a provision raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, is expected to pass the Senate by next month.
Congressman Michael San Nicolas, who ensured Guam’s inclusion in the relief programs, said the measure is expected to be passed into law by the end of March.
