Business leaders and union endorse San Nicolas's recommendations to Biden

By Eric Rosario

The Guam Chamber of Commerce and the Guam Federation of Teachers have submitted letters of support for recommendations to various positions within the Biden-Harris Administration put forward by Congressman Michael San Nicolas.

"As we build further support in the effort to advance meaningful recommendations to serve in the Biden-Harris Administration we are humbled to receive endorsements from both the Guam Chamber of Commerce and the Guam Federation of Teachers," opened Congressman San Nicolas. "As the largest business and labor organizations on Guam the support of these two institutions illustrates the rare appeal of these recommended nominees to both private sector interests and labor union advocacy, an uncommon outcome that underscores the focus of unity that the Biden-Harris Administration seeks and these candidates posses," Congressman San Nicolas continued. "TEAM GUAM USA is not just a political catch phrase but a higher calling to elevate our island, our people, and our Nation, and is so answered in the united support of our island's largest private sector and labor union organizations for these highly qualified individuals," Congressman San Nicolas added.

"It is with great pleasure that The Guam Federation of Teachers, Local 1581, endorses the following Guam leaders to be appointed to the Biden-Harris transition team for presidentially appointed positions," GFT president Timothy Fedenko wrote to President Biden.

The recommended nominees endorsed by the Guam Chamber of Commerce and The Guam Federation of Teachers are as follows:

Brigadier General (Ret.) Roderick Leon Guerrero to Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs

Dr. Doreen T. Crisostomo, BBAA, MBAA, Ph.D to Deputy Director of U.S. Office of Management and Budget

Ms. Jennifer Romero to Assistant Secretary of the Interior

Ms. Shelly Vargas Calvo to U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines

USAF Major (Ret.) Anthony R. Borja to U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Palau

The Honorable James V. Espaldon to the U.S. Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia

Ms. Michelle Kramer to the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of the Marshall Islands

"All are proven leaders, professionals, and public servants," stated Guam Chamber of Commerce president Catherine Castro in the chamber's letter to President Biden. "These nominees are loyal to the United States of America and will bring their expertise, talents, integrity and unique perspectives to the positions as recommended by Congressman San Nicolas. We feel strongly that each of these individuals would be ideal candidates and would bring pride to your Administration and to our country."

"We thank the Guam Chamber of Commerce and the Guam Federation of Teachers for their example and support, and our recommended nominees for their willingness to serve," Congressman San Nicolas concludes.
