CAR Score drops to 3.9; test rate drops to 3.9% after mass testing today

Of the 930 people who were tested on this first day of mass testing by the government on Guam, only 37 tested positive for the Coronavirus. That is a 3.9 percent test rate.

Coincidentally, Guam's COVID Area Risk (CAR) Score dropped to 3.9. This is the second day in a row the CAR Score has been below the threshold of 5.0 set by Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero.

Her set threshold will, according to her, help her determine whether to ease restrictions on the public if the CAR Score holds at or falls below 5.0 over a period of time.

Dr. Felix Cabrera has suggested this period last at least two weeks.

"We have taken a great step in the right direction," Dr. Cabrera said. "What is even more important is that we sustain it, at minimum for 2 weeks to see what we ultimately care about... a significant decrease in hospitalizations and death. To do that will take even more willpower by our community during this holiday season. Compared to what our island has endured historically, we can do this!"

According to the November 30 census of COVID cases at all hospitals, 46 people are being hospitalized for the virus, 10 of them are in the ICU, and four of them are on ventilators.
