Yona Mayor Jesse Blas has signed a plea agreement that was filed today in federal court. He has admitted in his plea agreement to being guilty of one count of Extortion under Color of Official Right in violation of Title 18 United States Code Section 1951. He will appear before a federal judge tomorrow at 2pm to officially plead guilty to the charges.
According to Mr. Blas's plea agreement with the United States Attorney, the amount of time he will spend in jail will depend upon the assistance he provides to the government; meaning, he likely has been cooperating against other people since his plea was signed by all parties on January 27.
The plea agreement also sets forth a period of supervised release lasting three years, in which Mr. Blas has to drug test, among other stipulations.
The government also will seek the forfeiture of $11,700.
This is a developing story.
