In a sea of federal seizures normally conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, the FBI, or Homeland Security Investigations, a man from Guam had nearly half-a-million dollars in cash, cryptocurrency, and race cars seized from him by the U.S. Secret Service.
Though listings of federal seizure disclosures do not indicate what alleged crimes are associated with the assets seized, the Secret Service this year has been seizing the assets of Guamanians allegedly involved in an online gambling scheme.
The Secret Service, from April to May this year seized cash, cryptocurrency, and vehicles from resident Julian Abat Weymouth. The seizures happened at accounts in Hagatna, and on properties in Dededo, Mangilao, Hagatna, and Piti.
The seizures include $289,257.18 in cash and cryptocurrency and $152,810.00 in vehicles for a total of $442,067.18 seized.
