Glenn Cruz beats girlfriend because she didn't cook dinner; son and daughter save her

By Troy Torres

(Tumon, Guam) Glenn Eric Cruz, 48, got mad at his girlfriend because she didn’t prepare dinner for him, so he began kicking her. She fought back to prevent him from hurting her two-year-old daughter.

Their adult son then restrained his father from hurting his mother any more.

Their son saw Mr. Cruz slap and punch his mother in the face. Their daughter, a minor, heard her mother screaming. She ran to check her and saw her father pulling her mother’s hair, then shoving and punching her face and body. Their son held down Mr. Cruz, but Mr. Cruz managed to punch him twice. Their daughter finally was able to separate them.

Mr. Cruz’s girlfriend had two three-inch scratches on the center of her chest, redness on the left side of her neck, a quarter-sized bruise to the top of her forearm, and a two-inch “pink/purple” bruise to the left bicep. Officers noted three red one-inch scratches on her left breast. She complained of pain to her left jaw.

Prosecutor Rolland Wimberley, in his declaration of probable cause, accuses Mr. Cruz of two counts of Family Violence as misdemeanors.

Clifford Benavente San Nicolas was sentenced last year to 20 years in prison for the murder of his wife in 2013 over burnt rice

This is not the first case of family violence stemming from a disagreement over dinner. On January 26, 2013, Clifford Benavente San Nicolas, who was 22 at the time, shot his wife Valene Borja in the neck over burnt rice. Mr. San Nicolas, who now is 29 years old, was sentenced last year by Judge Michael Bordallo to serve 20 years in prison for one count of intentional murder, one count of family violence, and one count of possession of a firearm without a firearm ID.
