Knock on wood... we're keeping an eye on the weather in this area

By Barbara Brown

Weather watchers are noticing a surface trough located south of Chuuk and Guam producing a large area of widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. While still too early to predict any significant weather formations heading this way, an area of low pressure is expected to form along this trough later this week, and environmental conditions are expected at this point to be conducive for development. (Summary credit and thanks to Will Weaver of Pacific Typhoon Season)

To be clear, no watches or warnings have been issued by either the National Weather Service or the Joint Typhoon Warning Center regarding any storm formations for the Marianas this week. But, it doesn't hurt to remain vigilant and typhoon ready for the next big one.

Kandit will continue to monitor this and report to you any developments.
