NEWS: Governor calls for the removal of the U.S. Attorney for Guam and the NMI

Shawn Anderson, U.S. Attorney for Guam and the NMI

(Tumon, Guam) Yesterday Kandit brought you the story of an assistant United States attorney and his wife who were released from mandatory quarantine orders after arriving on Guam. Apparently it wasn't an assistant; it was the United States Attorney himself, Shawn Anderson.

According to a letter from Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero to U.S. Attorney General William Barr, Ms. Leon Guerrero is calling for his removal from office after Mr. Anderson allegedly made a scene at the Guam International airport and defied the quarantine order.

"Yesterday I was forced to take precious time and resources away from our response efforts to deal with the arrogance and disrespectful behavior of Mr. Anderson," the governor wrote. "His decision to challenge my executive orders created an atmosphere of noncompliance and threatens our local government's ability to respond to this public health emergency. Let me be clear. I did not bend to his title when I asked my public health nurses and customs officers to let Mr. Anderson through. I did so to protect Mr. Anderson from the dangers he would face being imprisoned alongside those that his office has caused to be detained."
