NEWS: July 15 is new tax filing deadline; tax refunds status unclear

By Eric Rosario

(Tumon, Guam) At the direction of President Trump, Secretary of Treasury Steve Mnuchin announced via twitter the extension of the tax return filing deadline from April 15 to July 15.

“All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties,” Mnuchin wrote.

Kandit News awaits confirmation from the Department of Revenue and Taxation that Guam, which normally mirrors the federal tax code, will comply with this new deadline.

Also unclear is whether this also pushes back the six-month deadline for the Leon Guerrero administration to pay tax refunds for tax year 2019.
