NEWS: Muna-Barnes appeals to shopping centers to save jobs

(Tumon, Guam) The Speaker of the Guam Legislature is asking the general managers of the three largest shopping centers on Guam to allow their tenants to open and close at earlier and later hours to accommodate COVID-19 concerns.


She's also asking these shopping centers - Micronesia Mall, Agana Shopping Center, and Guam Premier Outlets - to waive penalties and consider payment plans for late rental fees.


Speaker Tina Muna Barnes is concerned that the quick economic downturn is furloughing too many private sector employees, especially in retail, and is looking to stave off further layoffs - at least at the shopping centers - by lessening the financial burden on shopping center merchants.
