NEWS: Police make arrest in back stabbing case

By Eric Rosario

Good old-fashioned police work led to the arrest yesterday of Nanos Luck for allegedly stabbing a man in the back during a fight Sunday, June 7 at the New Plaza Market in Tamuning.

Police believe that around 4 p.m. Sunday, the victim was with a group of men by the market, when a fight broke out. He was stabbed in the back.

The man went home at the Hemlani Commercial Apartments, where his wife called police. He was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital "for treatment and care, where he was listed in stable condition," according to police spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao.

Guam Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division found video surveillance of the incident and interviewed witnesses. "Through witness interviews, detectives were able to recover the weapon used and the identity of the suspect," police spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao said.

CID detectives and juvenile division investigators located Mr. Luck, 36, at an apartment complex in Tamuning. He was questioned then arrested for aggravated assault, possession and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

Mr. Luck was booked and confined at the Department of Corrections. Police forwarded the case to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution.
