The Guam Department of Labor will be issuing unemployment checks this week, but not to everyone just yet.
"With transaction tests successful earlier today, the Department of Labor will be working through the weekend to deliver the first batch of unemployment benefits to applicants early next week," stated a news release from DOL Friday. "The total number of claims to be paid will be based on the number of clean claims processed."
The payments will be processed according to who filed error-free applications first.
But not everyone who filed an error-free application should expect their unemployment checks this coming week.
Responding to Kandit's question on whether everyone with an error-free application should expect a check this week, Civil Defense spokeswoman Jenna Blas with the Joint Information Center said, "Not everyone, FIFO process as resources permit."
FIFO is the acronym for the accounting term, first in, first out.
"Electronic transfers and paper checks will be issued to error-free claims on a first in, first out
basis. More payments will be issued as PUA staff adjudicate applications." - statement from DOL
