War Claims Payments enters final stages for adjudicated claims.
The following is news from the Office of Congressman Michael San Nicolas:
Congressman San Nicolas received word from the United States Department of the Treasury that it is sending out letters to all claimants who received final award letters from the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission, who have not executed an assignment agreement with the Government of Guam. The letter from the Treasury will explain the payment process and enclosed will have a payment voucher that the claimants must complete and return to the Treasury’s Bureau of Fiscal Service in order to receive payments. These letters will be mailed to the same addresses final award letters were mail to by the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission. For claimants who have since passed, the Treasury will require documentation, such as a will, letters of appointment, powers of attorney, letters of guardianship, etc., from the next of kin to prove ownership of the final award. If you need to change your mailing address or prove ownership of final award, please contact the Judgment Fund Branch at Treasury’s Bureau of Fiscal Service at 866-277-1046 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Those who have assigned their claims the Government of Guam, and have not yet received their payments, will not be entertained by the Treasury Department and are advised to contact the Office of the Governor for payment.
