NOW HIRING: Recovering drug addicts wanted to be Certified Substance Abuse Counselors

By Johnnie Rosario

Lt. Gov. Josh Tenorio said the government of Guam is looking to hire qualified residents in long-term recovery from drug addiction to serve as Certified Substance Abuse Counselors.

The positions are with the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center. Therese Arriola, director of the GBHWC, said all she needs are people who are interested in filling the positions, and she will have them trained and hired.

The CSACs are needed to provide an array of services to a wide range of clients, who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Mr. Tenorio, in a meeting of his Interagency Group on Homelessness, said the best people to hire for these jobs are former addicts in long term recovery.

Ms. Arriola said her agency will pay for the training and courses needed to certify candidates to become CSACs.

Please call the GBHWC for more information on how and where to apply.
