The following is news from the Republican Party of Guam:

The Republican Party of Guam would like to announce the selection of Ms. Shelly Gibson as the new National Committeewoman. Ms. Gibson replaces the late, great Margaret Metcalfe, who passed away unexpectedly last month. Shelly was most recently the Secretary of the Guam GOP.

Ms. Gibson, a third generation Republican, is the daughter of Rosemarie Underwood and E.L. “Bill” Gibson. She is the sister of Ray Gibson, Dave Silva, former Senator Mana Silva Taijeron, and Rebecca Kyler. Shelly is also the proud mother of RD Gibson, an educator at Benavente Middle School.

A graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Guam, Shelly studied business, political science, and criminal justice at the University of Guam. She also holds certificates in Human Dynamics from the University of Sydney, and Marketing Principles and Business Development from the Institute of Management in Singapore. She is also a SHRM Professional and OSHA Specialist, and a member of the NDIA (National Defense Industrial Association) and Women in Defense since 2008.

Shelly has served on the boards of various civic and government organizations over the years, inclusive of the Girl Scouts of Guam, Sanctuary Incorporated, the Port Authority of Guam, Hagatna Restoration and Redevelopment Authority, and is the current Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Department of Chamorro Affairs. She was also a member of the first Young Republicans of Guam and has been employed by TanHoldings Guam for nearly 20 years and is presently their Government Affairs & Special Projects Manager/Federal & Military Business Manager.

Shelly has been a lifetime supporter of the Republican National Committee (RNC), and was mentored by the late Margaret Metcalfe, with regards to the duties of the position of National Committeewoman. Shelly also carried Margaret’s proxy votes at the last two RNC Meetings. In this respect, it was only fitting for the Executive Committee to select Ms. Shelly Gibson for the position, and she was unanimously elected.

The Republican Party of Guam extends our congratulations and best wishes to Ms. Shelly Gibson in her new role as the National Committeewoman. She is experienced, accomplished, and ready to take on the responsibilities.
