Congressman Michael San Nicolas and Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero provided testimony to Congress to extend the Medicaid coverage to Guam’s poor and working class that the congressman successfully had increased through Public Law 116-94. The increase, however, was temporary. In order for Guam Medicaid patients to continue receiving elevated funding (specifically for the federal funding level to remain significantly increased, and for the federal match to remain at 87% instead of 55%), the federal government must continue the current authorization, or permanize it.
