(Tumon, Guam) The Joint Typhoon Warning Center has upgraded Invest 94W's potential of becoming a significant tropical cyclone over the next 24 hours to medium. As of 4 p.m. (ChST) Sunday, the potentially-developing storm was located near Chuuk and was 1,106 miles south-southeast of Guam.
Invest 94W is expected to move westward and to slowly intensify as it approaches Guam. Global tracking models show the storm passing just south of Guam.
One model shows the storm's center passing just south of Guam around 1 p.m., Wednesday, though it still is too early to tell which way the storm veers along its track, or whether it will bring any significant winds and rains by the time it passes, if it even consolidates into a tropical cyclone.
We will know more over the next 24 hours, according to meteorological agencies.
Kandit will continue to monitor the development of Invest 94W.
