By Barbara Brown

(Tumon, Guam) Invest 92W has strengthened and has begun its expected track northwest. The tropical disturbance, which is now the subject of a Joint Typhoon Warning Center tropical cyclone formation alert, is some 1,600 miles east of Guam.

The JTWC has upgraded the chances for development of a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours to high.

The storm is in a region of warm temperatures, making the environment conducive for further strengthening and development into a full storm.
