(Tumon, Guam) The tropical depression that has been lingering to the south of us is now the subject of an alert for the formation of a significant tropical cyclone by the joint typhoon warning center.
As of midnight the circulation was located 63 nautical miles south-southwest of Guam and was moving at 10 knots. it will continue to cause really rainy weather in our area as it moves away from us and begins to form and develop. Weather models indicate a west-northwestward track over the next two days with significant consolidation and intensification as the system tracks away from Guam. The JTWC now says the potential for the development of a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours is high.
