Update on tropical disturbance

By Barbara Brown

The tropical disturbance Kandit has been watching for you, Invest 94W, has moved north and slightly west over the past few hours. The weather system now is located 540 nautical miles south of Guam.

It is far too early to predict how organized or strong this system will be, or whether it will come close to the Mariana Islands. However, Invest 94W is in a favorable environment for tropical development and global typhoon models are in general agreement that the circulation will continue to consolidate as it tracks to the northwest over the next 24-36 hours.

Currently maximum sustained surface winds are at at 15-21 miles per hour. We will keep you updated on this circulation as it develops.
