(Tumon, Guam) The director of the Department of Corrections's sick leave form made it to the Governor's Office this morning, hours after one of her detainees, Patrick Hernandez, 24, escaped from the Hagatna Detention Center.

This is the fifth escape from DOC custody this year.

Law enforcement officials banded together in pursuit of Mr. Hernandez, and according to police spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao, correctional officers apprehended him near the Maina church around 9 a.m.

Ms. Brennan, according to her leave form, is on sick leave. The problem is that the leave form didn't make it to the Governor's Office until this morning, though she was not at work yesterday.

The director was shopping at the Naval Commissary Monday morning.

Governor's director of communications Janela Carrera - whose own vacations are under scrutiny - told Kandit yesterday that Ms. Brennan was on leave. However, her application for leave did not reach the Governor's Office for her boss - the governor - to approve until today.

As for the public concern that this is the fifth escape this year, the saying goes, "You had one job."

But she's not at work to do it.
